Live Your Laiph

Since 2009 is the year of making your dreams come true, I just want to send a shout-out to one of my favorite dream-chasers. A good friend, Hyrum Lai (of the previous post "Most Beautiful Couple in LA"), has started a clothing line of t-shirts, hoodies, and caps. For the past 15 years, my go-to outfit is jeans, a tee, and a great hoodie. Hyrum's "Sing Along" is my favorite hoodie ever. It is so soft. Even if you're not in the market, just go check out his site:
Keep going for it, Hyrum. You are a total inspiration.
And may I once again suggest the constant use of high-protection sunscreen. Freckles stop being cute and start being scary once you reach a certain age. There's no going back...

Winter Vacation--EXPOSED!

I guess we're just not used to getting snowed in for so many days in a row. The snow was beautiful and there's nothing like a White Christmas, but we all got a little stir crazy. Emphasis on the crazy.

Back in college my roommates and I used to play a great game called Sick Face. I won't go into details, but will simply say that the minute Lauren snagged the digital camera and started taking some pretty sweet pictures, I knew we were related. I still can't help but laugh.

We played plenty of Settlers. I would also like to take this opportunity to share the results of an experiment: The longer you wait to wash your hair, the better the results. My record for the break was four and a half days.

Mom had some pretty classic charade moves, and was always fun to watch playing Cranium.

Happy New Year!

For someone who is living a life she didn't expect to be living, I have had some amazing opportunities to learn about divine potential and how to discover purpose within ourselves when it is not handed to us by a job, a role, or an expectation. This week I had a melding of teachings. In this book (see my bookshelf!),

the author mentions that the best way to be successful is to wish everyone else success. Then as we go about living a conscious, meaningful existence, those around us are lifted and inspired to do the same. A perfect (albeit fictitious) example was found in a movie a friend recommended to me. Have you seen "Akeelah and the Bee"?

May I just recommend it to you and anyone who has dreams yet to come true? When we go about being the person we are meant to be, magic happens. I can't wait to see what the magic brings in 2009.

And then there were floods...

So this is what happens after record snowfall is followed by warm temperatures. These are the falls above the rivers that have now flooded several local towns. I am holding my tongue...I don't want to say it...I really want to...I'll just say that nature is amazing and powerful and we have a lot to learn from it.
