i don't know why i had previously always made the SF/LA track on the 5. this time i took the 101, and was awestruck by nature's bounty in such a short stretch of highway. strawberry (and broccoli and artichoke and lettuce and tomato and garlic) fields forever.

Part one of my looong weekend down south: Ventura with my pal, Shannon. We hiked Two Trees for a nice view of the city. I hiked, she floated. What would it feel like to hike without 50 pounds of my bodyweight?

I am unintentionally focusing on our weight difference so heavily (no pun intended), because when I look at these pictures, it just makes me chuckle. And then it makes me want to go to the gym and eat lettuce.

God loves us every one. And even though she is skinny, I love Shannon, too. So so much. I'm lucky to count her among my friends.
